Why would we want offline apps in a world where everything is connected all the time? In a world where everyone panics and don’t know what to do, when their WiFi, network or 4G connection is lost it becomes more important to create applications that always work, regardless the connection status. An offline-first approach is one in which data is stored and handled locally on the device, so the app always works smoothly and users can perform their tasks. No connection is needed, except for synchronizing and updating. Therefor it enables a person to work everywhere at anytime.
In this blogpost, our Mendix Expert and Offline-First guru, Marcel Groeneweg will go into detail about how you can make your Mendix offline first applications a succes. Besides of this, Marcel will discuss what he expects (or knows) what is released in Mendix 8 and how this will enables the offline first capabilities in Mendix. Several subjects such as, synchronization issues, JavaScript actions and Nanoflows will be explained and how to use them properly. Besides of this, Marcel will share his experiences that he had working with the offline first capabilities with several clients and looks back on his presentation together with Danny Roest (product manager at Mendix) during Mendix World 2019.
